WHY ORTONA
A name rooted in resilience
In December 1943, Canadian soldiers fought one of the hardest battles of the Second World War in the small Adriatic town of Ortona. Street by street, through a winter that gave no ground, they held — and a small Italian town became part of Canada's story.
The name carries what the firm stands for: patience under pressure, commitment through difficulty, and value built for the long term. Canadian roots, with a horizon that reaches well beyond them.

Marc Weiss brings experience across real estate, asset oversight, commercial relationships, and private-market investing. His background includes evaluating investment opportunities, overseeing assets, and working through complex business and commercial matters. His approach is hands-on and relationship-driven, with a focus on working alongside management teams to understand businesses, solve problems, identify opportunities, and support growth.
Max Kuhl
PARTNER
Max Kuhl brings experience in institutional investing, venture capital, and special situations. Previously an Investment Analyst at Murchinson, a multi-strategy fund, he focused on structured financings, capital structure opportunities, and complex corporate transactions. His background combines financial analysis, transaction evaluation, and disciplined risk management. At Ortona Partners, Max focuses on identifying promising Canadian businesses and partnering with entrepreneurs to support strategic growth and long-term value creation.
